Celebrate Freedom And More August Events

Looking for something different to round out the remainder of the summer season? For those of you who want something less of a "party" vein and offering something more localized in taste, then August can provide quite nicely for you here in the Smokies.

We have two music festivals going on this month - one in Pigeon Forge and one in Gatlinburg. On August 6th at the Old Mill Square is "Stringtime in the Smokies" where, starting at 11:00AM, visitors to the complex can be treated to performances by Grassroots Gringos, Richard Bennett, Wyatt Rice and Robinella as performing acts. There will also be a Smoky Mountain Cornhole Tournament. More info on this event can be found at http://www.mypigeonforge.com/events/stringtime/.

And then between August 24th and the 28th is the Smoky Mountain Songwriters Festival all throughout Gatlinburg and even performances at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort - over 120 of them to be more specific. Noted artists performing include Garth Brooks' Hit Writers (as in literally the artists who wrote his hits), Emi Sunshine and Farm Hands as well as Keith Anderson, Karen Waldrup, Fish Fisher, Andy Miller, Lucy Rose, Chris Long and many, many more. Further info on this can be found at http://smswf.com/.

Also in neighboring Pigeon Forge is Celebrate Freedom - a month-long celebration of current and former-serving military personnel and emergency service providers/first responders in the form of discounts on attractions, restaurants, lodging and more. There will also be events such as the "Heroes Tribute to Veterans and First Responders" between August 15th to the 18th and the "welcome Home Veterans" parade on August 27th. More info on these events can be found at www.mypigeonforge.com/events.

September will start sooner than you know and we'll be back with upcoming info on that. www.allthesmokies.com.
